Turbine and Ultrasonic Meter Repair and Refurbishing

TransCanada Calibrations operates a turbine and ultrasonic flow meter repair and refurbishing service adjacent to its high-pressure natural gas proving facility.

TCC's fully equipped ISO 9001 meter repair facility is located in an environmentally controlled shop situated at its indoor warehousing facility. Meters for repair are labeled and inventoried, with all repair activities performed according to documented procedures, in an organized manner, according to an established process flow. Each meter for repair is individually identified and tracked throughout the repair process. All repair activities not identified in the customer repair agreement are documented by a change order, and authorized by the customer.

TCC is recognized to perform meter repair and refurbishing by all major meter manufacturers and maintains an on site inventory of common meter components for both turbine and ultrasonic devices.

A Certified Mechanical Inspector performs all mechanical repairs, while a Journeyman painter applies the final protective finish to the meter in a fully equipped spray booth. Completed meters are returned to inventory and are calibrated, as required, according to customer schedule or instruction.

TCC also offers meter and meter tube cleaning service for ultrasonic meter users. Although ultrasonic measurement technology is quite stable, with few moving parts, meter recalibration is still necessary. Risk and uncertainty modeling, along with meter diagnostics assist in determining if a meter has become dirty and when recalibration is necessary.

The central location of TCC, combined with its on-site meter repair, calibration, and warehousing capability significantly reduces service and transportation costs while offering quick turn-around times.
